As part of our Earth Week celebration, we'll pair our popular bird walk series with a litter sweep of the Western end of the West Ashley Greenway to help provide a thriving habitat for our winged friends.
Layton Register, a long time CPC volunteer and bird enthusiast, will lead us as we explore and record our findings with Cornell University's Ebird Register for ecological studies. Layton will show us first how to listen for different species then will educate us on the uniqueness of these species. Binoculars are recommended for these walks, but not required. All supplies for the litter sweep will be provided by Keep Charleston Beautiful.
There is a small parking lot onsite with additional street parking. Our group will meet at the trailhead of the Greenway.
Registration for these free educational walks is requested. Attendance is limited to 40 so that all can experience a fulfilling educational walk.
If you are planning to join us in the litter sweep portion of the event, please complete our volunteer waiver in advance: http://bttr.im/kvr71
Volunteers of Earth Week events are invited to join us for a complimentary pint voucher courtesy of Holy City Brewing on Earth Day, April 22, 2023, from 12 to 4 pm. The celebration will take place on the brewery’s marsh-front lawn and feature a conservation fair of participating organizations. Earth Week event participants will check in near the brewery entrance to get their vouchers. Additionally, brewery guests are welcome to browse the tabling event on the lawn and learn more about the conservation-minded organizations participating in Lowcountry Earth Week.
